Who can import cars to Cuba?

All Cuban and foreign legal entities with representation in Cuba. Foreign firms, cooperatives, MSMEs or any other form of management. Also those natural persons with permanent residence in Cuba. How can I import a vehicle to Cuba?

On these sites or others identified by you, you search for the car you want and select the features you require. As soon as you complete your selection, you take a screen shot that includes the public price of the vehicle and the VIN, and send it to us along with the link and the information of the website you have used, as well as your general data, in order to start the car purchase process. Please note that the selection and price of the car are subject to availability.

In case you or a family member directly execute the purchase in the USA you must provide us with the car purchase information.

In both cases we will inform you the final price with total transparency, which would be conformed by the actual purchase price, the commission of our company for its management and the shipping costs to Cuba.

What types of vehicles can I import through Katapulk?

You can import any type of vehicle to Cuba. But we clarify that electric cars have incentives when importing to the country.

What are the associated costs to perform the export/import process?

The total price of the process may vary depending on the type and quantity of vehicles, the characteristics and car purchase history of the person or entity performing the process, the place where the vehicle will be picked up, etc.

However, the costs are made up of: the purchase price of the car, the commission of our company for the management (15% of the value of the vehicle) and the costs of documentation, insurance and freight associated with the shipment from the port of origin in the United States to the port of destination in Cuba.

In addition to these, you must take into account the costs associated with the commissions of the Cuban importers that participate in the process, as well as the taxes and tariffs established in Cuba, according to the legislation.

What are the commissions and tariffs to be paid in Cuba? Where can I get information on Cuban requirements and regulations that have been issued on the importation of cars?

Where can I pick up the car in Cuba once the paperwork is completed?

The vehicles are delivered to the Cuban importing entity responsible for the operation in CIP Havana, Mariel.

The extraction of the vehicles is only authorized once all payments corresponding to the operation have been completed.

The costs arising from the permanence of the vehicle under Customs control due to delays in the completion of any payment shall be borne by the buyer.

Is there any warranty on damages in maritime transportation?

Yes, an insurance policy for the car is included in the costs associated with the maritime shipment, which covers the car until delivery at the port of Mariel.

The rest of the Guarantees will be defined in the negotiations and quotation accepted by the buyer.

How are payments made?

Once the terms of the transaction have been negotiated between Katapulk and the buyer, payments will be made in USD to Katapulk’s bank account.

The payments corresponding to the commissions of the Cuban importers, customs duties and others are paid in MLC and CUP directly to these entities.

With what type of license plate would my imported car circulate in Cuba?

The plate will depend on the condition in which the buyer carried out the import process. Examples: Natural Person: P, MSMEs: W, Foreign Branches: K, Embassies: C, D, E.
